1.    Have you ever wondered why we first see lightning that falls at a distance and after a few seconds we hear the sound? Why do you think this happens?


2.    Imagine that, for some reason, the Sun goes out (stops emitting light) now. You will notice some immediate change?

You are controlling a robotic space machine which is exploring the surface of Mars from your lab. Suddenly and unexpectedly, you realize that right in front of the machine a crevasse gapes. Your reflexes are in excellent shape, and the response time of the electronic and mechanical parts of the robot is rapid. Will you save the robot from its destructive fall down the crevasse?
